Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi, Kenya

On arrival at Nairobi Airport, you will be met by a private guide and transferred to your lodge. Spend the evening at your boutique lodge surrounded by warthogs, bushbuck, dik dik, more than 180 species of birds, and the rare Rothschild Giraffe. Enjoy a dinner under the stars on the terrace, and prepare for your upcoming days “in the bush.” Welcome to Africa!

Day 2

Chyulu, Kenya

Rise early and fly south to Chyulu, home of Campi ya Kanzi, widely recognized as one of the most unique and inspiring safari experiences in Africa. Situated at the foot of the legendary Chyulu Hills, it offers an incomparable combination of luxury, adventure, and authentic immersion into Maasai culture. Stay in thatched roof tented cottages and spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Get a head start with a game drive in an open-air vehicle with a professional guide and Maasai tracker, or walk in the cloud forest exploring the unique habitat surrounding you.

Days 3 & 4

Chyulu, Kenya

Further discover Campi ya Kanzi and join your guide and tracker on a private safari and take note of the vast wildlife and birdlife populations, from the cloud forest of the Chyulu Hills to the plains toward the foothills of Kilimanjaro, pass through savanna, riverine forest, acacia woodland, springs and lakes. This is truly the region’s most iconic safari, with Kilimanjaro dominating the view as elephants and lions roam free in true wilderness.

Day 5

Serengeti, Tanzania

Drive to Serengeti National Park and along the way stop off at the Olduvai Gorge, an archeological site dating back to 3.5 million years. Once you’ve arrived in the southern plains of the Serengeti National Park, spend the next few days exploring the various game drives that will be reserved for you by Remarkable Journeys.

Take the late afternoons and walk from camp to one of the nearby hills, enjoying the magnificent sunset, or explore more distant parts of the reservation on a game drive with the thrill of spotting the “Big Five”.  At dusk try out a “night game drive” with your tracker using a spotlight to find the shy leopard or the fierce lion.

Days 6 & 7

Serengeti, Tanzania

Explore this legendary park with morning and afternoon game drives. The 14,763 square kilometers of the Serengeti are probably most famous for being the southern end of the Great Migration. Every year over 1.5 million animals, mostly wildebeest but also zebra and Thompson’s gazelle, follow their instincts and move through the western corridor on their 1000 kilometer journey to the fresh grazing of the Maasai Mara.

Day 8

Ngorongoro, Tanzania

Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and let your mind wander off in the vast, flat central plains, made fertile by the ashes of volcanoes in the Ngorongoro highlands. Look up at the expansive sapphire skies paired with shimmering heat hazes. Make a stop off in Ndutu, filled with small lakes where you may see hippo and water birds cooling off. Perhaps one of the best ways to see the area is in a hot air balloon during the cool of the early morning, when you may admire the grandeur, vastness, and the stunning landscape.

Settle at your lodge in the foothills of the Crater, with the rest of the afternoon at your leisure.

Day 9

Ngorongoro, Tanzania

In the Great Rift Valley, explore Ngorongoro Crater, one of the wonders of the natural world. It is an extinct volcano that collapsed in on itself around 25 million years ago forming a vast super bowl where the largest permanent concentration of African game is on display. Descend onto the floor of the crater in the early morning, where you’ll see the highest density of wildlife in Africa and the “Big 5.”

Four-wheel drive vehicles will take you down into this primeval paradise of woodland, lake, river, swamp and plain that shelters around 20,000 animals. If you can, spot the Black rhino, monkeys, flamingos, hippos, elephants roaming through this Garden of Eden.

Day 10

Zanzibar, Tanzania

Fly out to the sandy beaches of Zanzibar, nestled off the northwest coast, and stay in beach villas that overlook the azure ocean. Over the next few days soak up the splendors of the “Spice Island” and be pampered by the exclusive butler service that makes this island the perfect escape.

Days 11 & 12

Zanzibar, Tanzania

If you’ve had your fair share of lounging for a day, step out into the mystical, untouched Zanzibari landscape and take an excursion that will create the kind of dreamy island memories that last forever. Choose from an ocean safari or swimming with dolphins and turtles.

If you prefer a day to recover from your safari explorations, pay a languid visit to the wondrous Mvua African Rain Spa for a soul-reviving treatment. You’ll be grateful that you did!

Day 13

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

After breakfast, you will be picked up from the resort and driven to Stone Town, where you will take a short tour of this historical city. After the tour, you will be transferred from Stone Town to the Zanzibar Airport to Dar es Salaam.

On arrival in Dar es Salaam enjoy a farewell dinner on Dar’s waterfront with views of the harbor.

Day 14
