Trip Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive & Explore San José

Arrive at the San José International Airport and settle into your hotel, with the rest of the day to explore the city at your own pace. San José is rapidly modernizing, but still retains its vibrant cultural legacy, preserved in quality museums and restored buildings.

Days 2-3 – Pacuare River Experience

Get an early start to the day, stopping for breakfast en route to the Rios Tropicales Lodge along the Pacuare River. Spend the next two days exploring the area on whitewater rafting adventures, horseback riding, zip-lining, and on nature walks to hidden swimming holes. The Pacuare is renowned for its clean waters and excellent rafting, and its banks are home to monkeys, sloths, and an incredible array of tropical birds.

Days 4-6 – Arenal Volcano & Hot Springs

After breakfast, head downriver for an exhilarating day of whitewater rafting before transferring to your hotel near Arenal Volcano in the mid-afternoon. Enjoy the next three nights with the majestic Parque Nacional Volcán Arenal at your doorstep, home to the iconic volcano and a wealth of hiking trails, waterfalls, and wildlife. Take a zip-line canopy tour, soak in natural hot springs, rappel down waterfalls, and go for rainforest hikes along the volcano’s slopes.

Days 7-9 – Osa Peninsula Excursions

Today you fly to the southern part of Costa Rica to explore the rugged coastal beauty and pristine rainforest of the Osa Peninsula. A region of incredible biodiversity, the Osa Peninsula and Drake Bay are premier destinations for eco-adventures. Enjoy three nights on the peninsula, staying in the quiet haven of Drake Bay—with its excellent scuba diving, snorkeling, and kayaking—or base your adventure in the small town of Puerto Jimenez. Hike through the rainforest of Corcovado National Park, along Pacific beaches and mangrove swamps, and enjoy the relaxed pace of this isolated peninsula.

Day 10 – Departure from San José

Catch a regional flight back to San José and connect with your international flight home.
